The American Legion has long been a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. This support ranges on the national, state and local levels. Post 400 in Fenton, designated at the “Fenton Memorial Post,” currently works at the local level to promote scouting activities in the both the Gravois Trail and New Horizon districts. Recently, Post 400, sponsored the youth from three separate troops in the shooting sports category.
The Scouts were taught by an NRA certified instructor to safely handle the firearms prior to ever going to the range. After completing the course, the scouts then went to the Beaumont Scout Reservation to qualify for the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge. This was taught by the same instructor, along with a certified Range Safety Officer. All of the Scouts that participated earned the merit badge. This was the first time that this event was sponsored by Post 400 and it had a 100 percent success rate! It was a combination of great Scouts and great leaders, which is something that every program strives to provide. Post 400 will continue its commitment to the Boy Scouts of America with future endeavors.
