Group cycling
The Jefferson County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering more Group Cycling classes. Group Cycling is designed for all fitness levels, whether you are a new rider or an advanced cyclist. Our certified instructors (Theresa Weiss and Ben Haskins) will guide you through a fun and challenging cardio conditioning workout, and you control your own speed and resistance. Our new Stages bikes are compatible for SPD cleats.

We will be offering Monday classes at 5:30 p.m. starting March 6 (4 meetings – $20), a Wednesday 5:30 pm class starting March 1 (5 meetings, $25) and a NEW Sunday morning 8:30 am class starting March 5 (4 meetings – $20).

Senior Strength and Balance
Senior Strength and Balance is a great low-impact aerobics class that is designed to improve flexibility and balance while increasing muscular endurance. Strength exercises may include lifting hand held weights, stretching resistive tubing and using your own body’s resistance, while also using your core muscles to improve balance and stability. Our Certified Instructor Kristine Boehlke will combine fun with fitness to make sure you get in a good workout.

We will be offering a Wednesday morning class from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM (starting March 1) with a fee of only $25 for five one hour sessions!

If you are a member of the Silver Sneakers FLEX program, there is no cost to you! For members, or to see if you are eligible, call toll free at 866-584-7389, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, or email at

Join Tammi Ciaravino, our certified instructor, on Monday evenings beginning March 13 and Wednesday evenings starting March 15 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Take those extra pounds off the fun way!

Zumba is a fusion of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps to the tune of Latin and International music. The routine features aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. Salsa, Mambo, Samba, Merengue and Hip-Hop dancing are used, to name a few. Ditch the workout and join the party!

Enrollment in these high energy, fun classes is only $15 for the Monday class (3 nights), $15 for the Wednesday class (3 nights), or $30 for both classes, for the entire month!

For more information on any of the classes at the Civic Center, please contact the Jefferson County Department of Parks and Recreation at (636)797-5334, by email at or register on-line at

Instructional T-Ball
The Jefferson County Department of Parks and Recreation will be sponsoring an Instructional T-Ball Program. This program, which emphasizes instruction, learning and fun, will play for seven Wednesday evenings at the Northwest Jefferson County Sports Complex, near House Springs, beginning early May. The first two Wednesdays will be devoted to instruction, while the last five will be league play. Children ages 4-6 are encouraged to register for this program, and all teams will be co-ed.

Entry fee, which includes a T-shirt, hat and medal for each player, is only $60 for the entire 7-week session. Registration is currently being taken, with a deadline date of April 21, unless the program fills prior to this date. Volunteer coaches are still needed!
